OUR PASTOR
Reverend Matthew Hebert
____________________________________________
My name is Fr. Matthew Hebert, I am currently 32 years old (2021), and I am Pastor of the great parish Our Lady of Prompt Succor.
I grew up in Maurice, Louisiana. I’ve studied in more universities than I ever imagined I would: ULL, LSU, St. Joseph Seminary College, and Mount St. Mary’s. I have a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, and two master’s degrees, one in Divinity, and one in Moral Theology. I am also a veteran of the United States Air Force Reserves after serving for 6 wonderful years.
Personally, I am passionate about sports, making people into saints, and of course our Lord Jesus Christ and his Catholic Church.
As the Pastor of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, I strive to accomplish three objectives:
First, to be a leader of the great people in Coteau. A leader who first and foremost listens to the people who have made this place a wonderful area to worship and grow in faith. Together, our parish is vibrant and alive.
Secondly, I strive to sanctify in two manners: first by providing the sacraments in a traditional, respectful, and worthy manner. Second, by teaching the people of Coteau the fullness of the truth which comes from the wisdom of the Holy Roman Catholic Church. Through the sacraments and the truth we will come to know our Lord in an intimate way.
Finally, third, I intend to strive to love the people of Coteau as a spiritual father loves his children.
Please pray for me that I might be able to fulfill my calling to be a good and holy priest, all for the glory of God and his people!
